Welcome to Lutheran Charities of Western New York

Lutheran Charities’ primary mission is to support Western New York communities with kindness, compassion, justice and generosity, joining people where they are with what they need. We achieve this by underwriting grant funding for local agencies throughout the year, providing education, food, health care, social support and more to our neediest and underserved neighbors in Western New York. Uniting individuals, Lutheran congregations, corporations, and community organizations, Lutheran Charities provides a visible and viable force within the WNY community in terms of dollar amount as well as program support. Williamsville NY: Lutheran Charities of WNY announces 2024 grant recipients, investing more than $125,000 into the WNY community. The grants will assist charitable programs and organizations that are focused on lifting up individuals in their time of need.

The 2023 grant request cycle saw a record number of new organizations seeking support in 2024. Twenty four organizations will be awarded funding to support their missions, which range from, but are not limited to, food security, literacy, housing, childcare and education, mental health services, and camp ministries. $253,000 in requests were received for consideration which made this grant cycle a difficult one.

Lutheran Charities leads the granting process in active collaboration with St John’s Lutheran Home for Children and The Lutheran Foundation. Collectively, these funders invest in projects that demonstrate sustainability and vision based on the current needs of the community. Organizations need not be previously funded to be considered, nor need they have an affiliation with a church or religious body.

Inquiries regarding the 2024 grant cycle for funding for 2025 or other Lutheran Charities information should be forwarded to Chief Executive Officer, Melanie Rushforth at Melanie@WNYLutheranCharities.org.
